Our Universal Offer incl. SEND

At Mepal & Witcham C of E Primary School, we believe every child deserves access to high-quality teaching, support and opportunities to succeed.

Our inclusive approach ensures that all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), receive the appropriate support to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Our commitment to equity and excellence is reflected in our carefully structured 3 waves of provision (see Universal Offer Incl.SEND tab).

This wave approach ensures that every child - regardless of their starting point - receives the right level of tailored and directed support. From high-quality universal teaching strategies to targeted group interventions and specialist one-to-one support, our provision is designed to nurture potential, remove barriers, and help every child thrive.

Our Universal Offer

Our Universal Offer outlines the high-quality provision available to all pupils, alongside the additional support and interventions available for children who require targeted or specialist provision. This document can be accessed below.

What Does the Local Offer Cover?

The local offer will include information about health and social care services, education, leisure activities and support groups in the area for children and young people aged 0 – 25 with SEND and their families.

There will be information about:

  • Services and support available
  • How children and young people’s needs are identified and assessed
  • The way schools, colleges and maintained nurseries support children and young people with SEND
  • How to access services and how decisions are made
  • Preparation for adulthood and independence
  • Arrangements for making a complaint and mediation
  • How to comment on the local offer

The SEND Code of Practice outlines the range of information that local authorities, schools and other services should make available to support children and young people with SEND and their families.

Why is the local offer important?

The local offer will help parents, carers and young people to see clearly the range of services and support that are available in their local area and understand how to access them.

SEND Local Offer

At our school we are committed to working together to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs, to ensure that all children, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

The needs of pupils with a Special Educational Need/s are met within the classroom or small group work. Our SEN information Report has been produced with members of staff and will be reviewed annually with the help and guidance of parents, governors and pupils. Please see below link to view the report in full.

We recognise that every child is unique. We work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to identify needs early, remove barriers to learning and ensure that children with SEND are able to achieve their full potential.
